Twitter Called Out for Caving to Censors

Activists in India called out Twitter for withholding tweets criticizing their government’s COVID-19 response, saying the censorship puts lives at risk.
They accuse the tech giant of bowing to legal pressure from Indian officials eager to suppress scrutiny over missteps amid a devastating surge in cases.

  • Today, India recorded another record-breaking 360,960 daily cases, bringing the total to just under 18 million, CNBC reports.

"Questioning the government of India's decision to allow mass gatherings ... where people violated COVID safety protocols…” does not violate any laws, says the opposition Congress party’s Pawan Khera.
