In Covid-19’s Grip

With COVID-19’s recent rapid spread in Cuba, the island state now has Latin America’s highest rate of infections per capita.
Nearly 4,000 cases per million people were reported over the last week. That’s 9X higher than the world average.
Doctors are warning of a lack of oxygen, ventilators, and medications.
Food shortages and the failure of the government and the country’s well-respected medical system to control the virus led thousands to nationwide protests on July 11.
