Aggressive Moves, Small Outbreaks

China is moving quickly on multiple fronts—using lockdowns and mass testing—to quash new COVID-19 outbreaks in the eastern part of the country, AP reports.
New case numbers remain in the hundreds, but the Delta variant outbreaks have moved the government to test all 11 million residents of Wuhan and cancel flights and trains from Nanjing and Yangzhou.
Some 300 cases have emerged in the past 10 days across 15 provinces, the BBC reports.

Although the government says 1.6 billion Chinese vaccines have been distributed nationwide, scientists have noted the vaccines have not been strongly effective against new variants.
