No Thanks, Covax

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un just rejected 3 million Sinovac jabs from Covax.
What gives?
Kim told a Politburo meeting yesterday that the country needs to double down on “our style epidemic prevention system.”
Korea-watchers think it’s more likely that Kim is angling for better shots, especially for the elite and the military.
The country may be trying to avoid Covax distribution reporting requirements in border areas and for the military—and instead get vaccines directly from China, said Leif-Eric Easley, of Ewha Womans University in Seoul. For the elite, they may try to get Pfizer jabs from the US.
Officially, the country is virus-free, but few believe it’s been able to avoid the coronavirus.
