“Groupthink,” “fatalistic,” and “slow and gradualist.”
No government official would want these descriptors applied to their country’s response to COVID-19, yet that’s how a UK House of Commons committee report described UK efforts.
The report said:
- The UK’s early response one of the worst public health failures in the country’s history and led to an increased death toll.
- Boris Johnson’s government “squandered” the benefits of its January 2020 test for COVID-19 and instead led the country into a “permanent crisis.”
- The lack of data early on to analyze was a major setback.
