Walensky vs. the White House

Things aren’t going quite as promised at the CDC under Rochelle Walensky, who pledged to fix the embattled agency.
It was an ambitious goal for the stunningly successful researcher and political outsider.

Even though Anthony Fauci is firmly in Walensky’s corner, the White House has undermined her authority and the agency’s scientific process.
The Quote: “There was an old adage when I first started working in pandemic planning: You don’t want to be meeting someone for the first time during a pandemic,” said Sonja Rasmussen, a 20-year CDC veteran. “That’s the situation that she’s in.”
