Wild polio will be wiped out in a matter of months, with the exception of vaccine-derived cases; but a vast health worker shortage (over 7 million) will only increase in years to come.

After successful pilot programs in countries like Namibia and the Netherlands, more governments will pay their citizens a ‘universal basic income’; but curbs on migration will scupper the earning potential of many.

2018 will be a resilience test for aid organizations, with the #MeToo movement gaining momentum, and US funding drying up.
