South Africa is the epicenter of the world’s largest HIV epidemic. 20% of all people living with HIV are in the country, and 20% of the globe’s new infections occur there. Worse, nearly a third of all new infections are among adolescent girls ages 15-24.  

Washington state has declared a public health emergency, as it fights measles outbreaks in 2 counties where vaccine coverage slipped. Now the AP is reporting several cases in the Atlanta area, too.  

The Ebola outbreak unfolding in a Democratic Republic of Congo conflict zone does not amount to a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, the WHO concluded yesterday.
